Simonian Farms’ Old Town Delivers the Goods!

I’ve always heard rave reviews about the historic Simonian Farms, but I admit I’d never been there … that is until today.  What finally drew my attention?

It was their latest storefront; well, the novelty of it to be specific.  I heard they were opening a new Old Town shopping experience that combines food, wine, history, and family fun.  The prospect of each alone peaks my interest, but the thought of all of them in one place had me ramped up like a kid outside Disneyland’s gates.

So against my normal M.O., I went on opening day to see if all the goodness could be true – and I was not disappointed!  My family and I had a wonderful time playing games, wine tasting, filling our bags with delicious local produce, and admiring a wonderfully crafted turn-of-the-century environment.  But enough talk.  Let me just show you …

Old Town Storefront.

Bari Olive Oil from Dinuba, CA, was on display.

The Route 66 Shooting Gallery.

Enjoyed wine tasting at the Saloon Hotel.

The Old Town is pretty expansive.

The themed environment was very detailed.

The historic produce market.

Fresh local produce abounds inside the market.

Even more local goodness.

The market also features nuts, brittles, and candy.

The Tako Truck was serving up its specialties.

Tako Truck's Korean Philly Sandwich was lip smackin'.

Tako Truck's menu for the day. I heard they hit the Grizzlies games, too.

I think adding a novel aspect to the historic produce market was genius.  But what do you think about local businesses adding a little razzle-dazzle to their presentation? Like it or hate it?

Great write-up. Makes me want to actually stop there. I’ve driven by many times, but just keep truckin’ as I’m not much for commercial fruit stands. I’m thinking of Casa de Fruita.

dkzody, it’s definitely worth checking out. Go when you’re not in a hurry. Just plan an hour to sip some wine and stroll.
